use febreeezze! ok but honestly if you cant smell it maybe youve been near it too long and just have gotten used to the smell. try to have someone over and be like does my house smell good and if they dont respond with like a really enthusiastic YESSS then it doesnt smell that great and u should probably get like 200 febreeze cans
You say it doesn't "necessarily stink" , but then you say it doesn't smell good either. What dies it smell like? What do you detect? Do you remove kitchen waste regularly? If you have a leak in there do you wash it out thoroughly? ( I am just trying to get you to think with me what might cause things to "not smell good, either).
Smelly kids shoes, dampness from a basement nearby, if you have a smoker in the house...all these and other things can cause a staleness in the air. Smoking in the house especially is bad because clothing holds this smell and all of us have clothes we wear as well as stored clothing. Curtains hold it, carpet holds it...ah carpet... Are your floors carpeted? Carpet holds many smells. Do you have pets in the house? Spring cleaning time is past, now, but this custom is a time to deep clean your house and take care of some of these things that only get done once a year, if that often? washing windows, cleaning carpets thoroughly, washing drapes and curtains, blankets and heavier covers for beds used during the winter, cleaning, not masking odors with deodorizers, can eliminate staleness and you have the chance to enjoy the good feelings that come with knowing for sure your home is clean (because you cleaned everything). I hope this helps you determine what is the cause of the problem and also helps solve it to your satisfaction.
Make sure u get a daily dose of fresh air through ur place. Wipe down areas that you don't think smell good with a few drops of fragrance oil in some warm water and a soft cloth. (non coloured and synthetic) Yankee candles are a good scent although exp they smell lovely even wen not lit! Bicarbonate soda sprinkled on carpets, beds etc and left for a few hours then hoovered removes odours. Reeve defusers, and home made scented decorations. Lemon is a good way to kill odours and is also antibacterial (don't use on wood) room sprays and oil burners. (If using an oil burner add hit water from the kettle rather than strait up cold, defuses the fragrance of the oil strait away and save burn time on candles) fabrics alway soak up odour so maybe give ur curtains bedding a quick wash. Then wen the breeze blows through them the fresh washed smell will float around. So many options! Good like finding what works for you! ????
in a tea pot on the stove I simmer oranges and nutmeg and add water on occasion...

Filter your air with a charcoal filter. I have a 7 stage filter with hepa filter and a charcoal filter. It is awesome, i don't have air fresheners or febreze or any of that crap in my house anymore.
It doesn't necessarily STINK but it doesn't smell good either. I go to other people's houses and it smells amazing! I've tried candles and wax warmers and the wallflowers from Bath and Body Works but I can never smell it unless I'm RIGHT next to it.
