There is an old rule when choosing colours for decorating - you pick a "colour, a contrast and a neutral". For example, don't pick blue, grey and beige - it will look very cold and drab.

Also take into account the direction the windows face - if the room is South-facing then very "hot" colours will be overpowering in mid-summer.

Lemon or daffodil-yellow goes well with blue as a contrast colour.
