Hi - personally I don't think you can beat Silestone - it is like quartz - although it is very expensive the price is worth it. And... you can purchase it with like small sparkly stones in - not that their raised but obviously a flat surface. It comes in many colours and is almost THE most hardwearing material you can buy. It can be used for worktops, floors, bathrooms, kitchens indeed anywhere.

You need to go and see this material in a shop or somewhere because the style and colours with all the shiny bits in are absolutely beautiful - I can recommend this stuff as this is what we have in our kitchen. The best worktop you can buy :)
I personally prefer Granite. It’s durable, easy to clean, and looks really nice. I looked online for some design inspirations and got some great ideas from this one:

Maybe you could do the same and find something which suits the look of your kitchen. Although it probably won’t suit every layout, I love the feel of my kitchen now and would recommend granite to just about anyone!
