the wind blowing through something nearby. if you hang a pipe outside eventually it will make a sound when the wind turns in the right direction. Or it could be an owl.
I hear that noise sometimes on windy nights coming from the various tubing found on a tractor-trailer. Really haunting sound!
Do you live by a waterway? tug boats have a signal of one long and three short. I live about 3 miles from a river and am able to hear them.
It is currently 7:00 A.M. and I just woke up to a strange sound coming from outside. It sounds like someone is blowing on a bottle or a low pitched woodwind instrument, but there is no tone. It starts off with sort of a higher pitched wind-up and then it is followed by 3 slightly lower pitched whistles. It repeats and sounds almost exactly the same every time. It sounds almost like the cries of an animal. Does anyone know what this is?
