Acrylic is pretty versatile plus it's cheap and easy to find. Plus it leaves an even matte surface just like in the pinterest picture so that's probably what they used.

You coud get model paint or acrylic even normal house paint - if the lamp was going to get to hot.

The paint might take better if you brushed on some PVA glue on the spoons first and let it dry before painting.

My friend and I saw this really cute DIY pineapple out of spoons. Problem is literally no where around us sells yellow spoons and we don't have a credit to buy them online
