Vinegar and Water Vinegar removes films from glass surfaces and leaves the windows free of streaks and smudges.

Ammonia and water will work fine, an old school method is to use newspapers to wipe with, it leaves the glass sparking. Ammonia and water is what is in windex.

I use hot soapy water with vinegar, to wash them good first, then I wipe them down with clear vinegar and water in cooler water. Makes them really shine, and smell clean.
