My Dad used to always go to estate sales. I don't go to garage sales, but I should.
Check and see if religious or social helping organizations have thrift shops in your area. In my city, the Jewish Womens Council and Habitats for Humanity both have great thrift stores -- I would say half my furniture comes from one or the other of them. I often find nice small side tables for under $15 at such places.
also take a drive around town when its garbage day ,you would be surprised on the stuff people will just leave out hoping for pickup, consignment stores, estate sales and penny markets. You might also think about covering,or stripping, painting what You have?or re-task some items to make a bench and table?
Resale shops sell furniture.
Salvation army stores.
Craigslist
I like looking at yardsales and goodwill. You most likely aren't going to the bigger objects for under fifty but at yardsales you can bargain. If you go to yardsales on the second day that their open if there's any furniture left they will most likely bargain with you because at that point their just trying to get rid of it.
GoodWill stores seem to have nicer stuff than Salvation Army.
I want some cheap furniture like a side table, dresser, and bench so that I can restore them and paint them because I can't stand my maple furniture and the shapes of them(thankful that I have them though). My parents are ok with it as long as I buy the stuff and do the work myself. Looking for places to get furniture like this $50 or lower. Thanks
