Free arms are not nearly as useful as you think it will be. If you "sew in the teacup", you'll actually be able to sew narrower tubes than if you try to stitch with a freearm. See: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index...
No home sewing machine will sew heavy leather; most will handle leather up to about the weight of pigsuede.
