I'm not so big on denim on denim but a lot of people like it. So I guess something darker, yes; something like a tan color as well. Maybe black or boot cut jeans. It would look nice with all kinds of shorts that aren't denim and stop above the knee or with several kinds of dress pants. For shorts, however, i recommend something not in denim and above the knee.
