I was given a length of what I think is silk, but as I am no expert, I wanted to double check it really is silk (I'm thinking of selling it on ebay). The fabric feels very smooth and very soft. Much softer then cotton and thicker. In the corner of the fabric is a red stamp with the words 'INSPECTED 9.TEX'. Does anyone know what this might mean and how I can tell if it really is silk or just a reproduction of some sort? Real silk has a very certain feel to it. If you have a men's tie (often marked 100% silk) then rub your fingers on that and get familiar with the feeling. Synthetics like polyester have a much different (scratchier) feel to them. If it's real silk it often has that label, so without a label it might very well be a synthetic.
