I work in a grocery store. This one guy, a regular customer who I see in there at least once a week always comes in wearing an earloop surgical mask like what the dentists wear. He never starts any trouble or anything. He just buys his groceries and leaves like everyone else. But for three years now, I have never seen him without it on. One of the cashiers asked him if he was sick and he said he did not want to get sick. On another occasion he said that he had allergies. I'm guessing he just likes to wear a mask. He usually wears black and red and sometimes camo. He looks like some kind of metal head or goth or something. Maybe it's a fashion thing?I work in a grocery store. He might be immunocompromised or have a germ phobia. Why don't you ask him???
I agree with "Rick B", you could ask but it might have something to do with germs... otherwise I'd say it could also just be a fashion statement -- cyber goths generally are the type of ppl who wear such masks (only cuz it's sometimes part of the look), often looks like these (surgical or respiratory style):
